Since the arrival of the country’s first submarine in Malaysia, KD TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN (KD TAR) in 2009 and the second submarine, KD TUN RAZAK (KD TRZ) in 2010, the two strategic assets were maintained by BDNC.
BDNC has surpassed the targeted Technical Availability days for the submarines for five consecutive years (2017 to 2021) thus has increased the Submarines Operational Availability for the RMN.
BDNC has also reduce dependency on the French and increased Malaysian local expertise. BDNC has brought together the Malaysians competencies and skills to cement its place as the only submarine MRO provider. These achievements could be seen as below:
- Full Autonomy for In-Service Support (ISS) of the Submarines. Experienced, competent, qualified and sufficient numbers of Malaysian perform ISS of the submarines.
- Completion of Refit. BDNC is the only company outside of France that completed the 1st Scorpene® Refit for KD TAR and autonomously led the Refit for KD TRZ.
- Full Engineering Support for The RMN. Engineering Management and able to issue and certify diving safety related Maintenance Conformity Certificate to the RMN.
