Boustead DCNS Naval Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (BDNC) is the first organization under Malaysia defence industry that obtain ISO 37001 certification from NIOSHCert
On the 10 August 2022, BDNC is fortunate to have YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, the Chairman of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) at the Submarine Base inside the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Naval Base in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Accompanying NIOSH’s Chairman were YBhg. Datuk Hjh Rosmawati Hj. Lasuki, member of the Board of Directors of NIOSH Certification Sdn. Bhd. (NIOSHCert) and Mr. Syamsul Zahrin Zainudin, Chief Executive Officer of NIOSHCert.
This working visit aims to further strengthen cooperation between NIOSH and BDNC in an effort to further improve corporate governance, occupational safety and health at the Submarine Base. BDNC has previously successfully maintained the Quality Management System Certification (ISO 9001:2015) and upgraded the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001: 2018), in addition to obtaining the Quality Management Compliance Certificate – Configuration Management (ISO 10007: 2017) from NIOSHCert for undertaking repair works of RMN’s submarines.
Through NIOSHCert, BDNC has received ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Corruption Management System (ABMS) certification, making it the first company within Boustead Group and Naval Group to receive this prestigious certification. In conjunction with this visit, a certificate presentation ceremony was held with the Chief Executive Officer of BDNC, Mr. Feroz Razi Ramli receiving the certificates from YB Datuk Wilson Ugak.
According to Mr. Feroz, this certification is a manifestation of BDNC’s commitment to provide the best service for the maintenance of the country’s strategic assets based on integrity, accountability and transparency to curb corruption, malpractice and abuse of power. “As a result, BDNC can provide the best service to RMN. The periodic evaluation conducted by NIOSHCert can also ensure that our work is always on the right track”, he emphasized.
YB Datuk Wilson Ugak congratulated BDNC for successfully obtaining certifications which are not only recognized in Malaysia but internationally.
The implementation of the ISO Management System contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 of the United Nations or better known as the UN SDG 2030. The Malaysian Government has already expressed the country’s commitment to jointly achieve these SDGs.
With the implementation of these coveted certifications, BDNC has contributed to 16 of the 17 targets set in SDG 2030.
