As the sole provider of Submarine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services in Malaysia, occupational safety and health (OSH) have always been a high priority and of paramount importance at Boustead DCNS Naval Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (BDNC). In another effort to cultivate the OSH culture, BDNC’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Department organised the BDNC OSH Week 2022 from 27 to 29 July 2022.
Held for the first time after being rescheduled several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this first edition theme “Act Together to Build a Positive Safety and Healthy Culture” focuses on how we can all contribute toward a culture of safety and health.
BDNC OSH Week 2022 was officiated by Tuan Wan Sarman Bin Sakan. NIOSH Sabah and Labuan F.T Regional Manager. BDNC also collaborated with the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and various government agencies as well as private entities in setting up various activities such as blood donation, audiometric tests, health talk related to audiometry and ergonomics, and games that include the general knowledge of OSH and more. Among the agencies and companies involved are the National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH), Sabah Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Association (SOSHEA), Hospital Queen Elizabeth II, Bomba Tuaran, Jesselton Medical Centre (JMC) and Befrienders Sabah. Tuan Haji Zulkifli Bin Yahaya, Director of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Sabah, officiated the closing of BDNC OSH Week 2022 which coincided with the closing state-level OSH Week 2022.
“BDNC has always put safety first in all things we do,” said Mr Feroz Razi Ramli, the Chief Executive Officer of BDNC in his welcoming speech. He also highlights the great partnership BDNC has had with the RMN, DOSH, NIOSH and other partners in successfully cultivating a safe working culture in BDNC.
