On 19 June 2022, Pertubuhan Jaringan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Sabah (PJKAYS) organised a Motivational Session & Virtual Treasure Hunt Event at Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu, sponsored by Ocean Vantage Holdings. The event was officiated by YBhg. Brigadier General Al Hambra Tun Juhar, Chairman of Yayasan Nur Jauhar (YNJ).
Boustead DCNS Naval Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (BDNC)’s Head of Engineering, Ir. Chan Ling Ket, was invited to share some of his personal and life learning experiences ranging from his background, educational highlights, career, challenges and how to overcome it during the motivational session. As he was one of the first crew of Malaysia’s first submarine, KD TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN (KD TAR), who spent many years serving on a submarine and last served the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Submarine Command Headquarters as Commander (RMN), Ir. Chan also shared his story on what it was like serving the nation as submariner.
The 30 lucky orphans between the ages of 15 to 17 comprised orphans from As-Sakinah Kinarut, Tambunan, Darul Bakti, Kota Belud, Jireh Home Tuaran, and Don Bosco.
