Sir Edmund Hillary once said, “It’s not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves”.
Standing at 2,642 meters (8,668 feet), Mount Trusmadi or Mount Trus Madi is the second highest mountain in Sabah and Malaysia after Mount Kinabalu. Albeit its lower altitude as compared to Mount Kinabalu (4,095 metres), the trail of Mount Trusmadi was much tougher.
As part of the customer engagement programme under Boustead DCNS Naval Corporation Sdn. Bhd.’s (BDNC) RISE 2024 initiative, 30 climbers consisting of 16 Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) personnel and 14 BDNC associates took on the challenge and conquered Mount Trusmadi on 3 July 2022. It’s not just the Trusmadi that we conquered as the expedition has also further strengthened the relationship between the RMN and BDNC while enjoying and experiencing a strenuous adventure along the way up to the summit.
The programme took off on 2 July 2022 with the BDNCare program, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, at Kg. Sinua, Keningau whereby a total of RM3,500.00 worth of necessities (cooking oil, rice and food basket) has been distributed to the 21 local families.
The expedition to the summit through Mannan Trail was held from 3 to 4 July where all climbers managed to endure a total of 25KM journeys and successfully conquered the tough terrains.
“ Trusmadi you were tough, but we conquered ”
